COMMERCIAL RENTAL RATES

Daily Rate: Monday through Thursday $1000 plus TAX
Friday or Sunday $1500 plus TAX
Saturday $2000 plus TAX
Commercial bookings are accepted up to one year in advance of the date based on a first-come, first-served basis.

STAFFING FEES

In addition to the venue rental rate:

Technician
Renters are required to hire the Performance Works Venue Technician at a rate of $26.00 per hour (minimum 4-hour call) for all productions and events requiring the use of technical equipment. Overtime rates are applied after 8 hours per day. Time and a half is charged between 8 - 12 hours worked, double time is charged for over 12 hours.

Front of House Staff

Renters are required to hire the GICS Front of House Manager at a rate of $17.00 per hour to supervise when the public is attending the event (minimum 4 hour call).

THEATRE IMPROVEMENT FEE (TIF)

A Theatre Improvement Fee is levied on all ticketed productions at Performance Works:
Tickets equal to or more than $15.00
= $1.00 per ticket sold
Tickets less than $15.00
= $0.50 per ticket sold

For non-ticketed events, a Theatre Improvement Fee is levied on a sliding scale:
attendance of
1-50 people =
$25 fee
attendance of
51-150 people =
$50 fee
attendance of
151+ people =
$100 fee


S.O.C.A.N. (Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada)

Tariff # 8 Receptions, Conventions, Assemblies and Fashion Shows: Renters planning on having music at their event must also remit to SOCAN. This fee will be added to your full rental payment, due sixty days prior to your rental date.

Event with music and dancing
= $59.17 + TAX
Event with music only
= $29.56 + TAX


DEPOSITS DUE

Deposits are due at the time of signing the Contract. The deposit acts as a damage deposit and retainer for the cost of any loss, damages or extraordinary janitorial costs or staffing charges.

Deposit are held until all outstanding payments are made to GICS.
Should cancellation occur after signing contract, the deposit is forfeited

Total Rent due is payable SIXTY DAYS prior to rental date.


CANCELLATION POLICY

120 Days notice of cancellation must be given in writing or the Presenter will be required to pay the full rental rate for the period of the Contract.

Originally a machine shop dating back to the 1920's, the Barbara Dalrymple-designed Performance Works opened on Granville Island in 1992 with a mandate to provide the arts community with a permanent rehearsal and performance venue. Owned by
CMHC - Granville Island and managed by the Granville Island Cultural Society, Performance Works is now a multifunctional, flexible black box theatre space booked year round with some of Vancouver's most exciting performance events and productions.
